Seeing the Invisible
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack the body's own tissues — affecting the skin, joints, kidneys, heart, and more. It strikes women nine times more often than men, and Black women are three times more likely to develop Lupus than white women.
Despite this, awareness, research funding, and culturally competent care remain critically underfunded. Too many women spend years seeking a diagnosis for symptoms that are dismissed, minimized, or misattributed.
Alpha Mu Omega carries the Lupus community in our hearts and in our work. We raise awareness about the warning signs that are too often overlooked, advocate for access to quality care, and create space for women living with Lupus to feel supported rather than silenced.
